Application and Matching Process
We are pleased you are interested in
becoming a volunteer in the Kinship Program. We hope that
the following information will help answer any questions you
may have about the application and matching process. If you
have further questions, please feel free to contact one of
the Board Members or the Coordinator.
-
Download and complete
the application form.
- Reference forms will be sent to three
non-family persons who you list on the application form.
A records check through law enforcement will also be
completed. These forms will need to be returned before
acceptance as a volunteer can be confirmed.
- You will be contacted for making
arrangements for an interview prior to matching.
- You will be notified of your
acceptance as a volunteer and be required to attend a
two hour training session prior to your match. A match
with a child will be based on the availability of a
child of your preference (e.g. age). We want to ensure
compatibility.
- You and your prospective match will
have the opportunity to meet once before the match is
confirmed. Both parties will have the opportunity to
decline the match.
- Once the match is confirmed, you will
be expected to spend a minimum of one hour per week with
the child. This is arranged at the convenience of your
schedule and the child's.
Activities are sponsored by the
Kinship Program that you may attend with your Kinschild.
- You will be given monthly report
forms to complete and send in. The coordinator will
contact you on a monthly basis to see how things are
going. You are encouraged to contact the coordinator at
any time, particularly when difficulties with your match
arise.
